National QDMA Chairman speaks at CNY Branch Banquet National Chairman of the Board for the Quality Deer Management Association, Craig Dougherty, was the featured speaker at the Central New York Branch Banquet on Sept. 27th. He spoke to a 100% capacity crowd at the Pompey Rod and Gun Club in Pompey, NY. Attendees enjoyed a fun evening of good food and drink along with chances to win some fantastic prizes. Craig also presented, to a very surprised youngster, one of the Georgia hunts that QDMA gives out nationally. Pictured in the photo are proud Dad Don Berti, Craig Dougherty, QDMA Youth Hunt winner Jordan Berti, and State Youth Mentoring Chairman Jim Sollecito. Sollecito has also spent the last 14 months working with Jordan in the field, and the Georgia hunt is the last step necessary for Jordan to complete the QDMA's Youth Mentoring Program in New York. It is believed he is the first ever to have completed every step of this exciting program. For more information on how to be involved with the QDMA's Mentored Hunting Program, please go to our website and click on the Mentored Hunting Program button at the bottom of the page.
Without the help of QDMA, he would have had to wait another year, since he is 13 and NYS does not allow big game hunting until age 14. Thanks to this program, another quality hunter will be in the field due to the foresight and generosity of the sportsmen who support the New York State Chapter of the QDMA. Our thanks to all.
